Triple Professional Certifications
Upon completion of the program, participants will receive:
OCTCM Maternal & Infant Care Skills Certification
CPR / First Aid Certification (Adult, Infant, Child)
Holistic Practitioner License — issued by the City of Toronto Municipal Licensing and Standards, allowing graduates to legally practice holistic health and maternal care services in Ontario.
Practice-Oriented Curriculum
The program consists of 130 total hours, including 50 hours of practical training and case study, 20 hours of supervised internship, and 5 hours of final assessment.
Each component is designed to simulate real postpartum care scenarios, ensuring graduates are fully equipped to work independently and provide professional, evidence-based care.
Expert Instructor Team
Taught by a multidisciplinary faculty including OCTCM professors (R.TCM), Registered Nurses (RN), International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC), Registered Dietitians (RD), and senior postpartum care mentors, combining Eastern and Western approaches to maternal and infant wellness.
Bilingual Instruction
Delivered primarily in Chinese with bilingual (Chinese–English) learning materials.
This approach helps students master professional terminology and communication skills needed for local employment and client interaction.
Internship & Career Pathway
Outstanding students will have the opportunity to complete a supervised internship at the Lucky Mom Postpartum Center, receiving one-on-one mentorship, reference letters, and potential employment opportunities upon graduation.
Curriculum Overview
Total Duration: 130 hours (Theory 55h + Practice 50h + Supervision 20h + Evaluation 5h)
1️ Traditional Chinese Medicine for Postpartum & Infant Care (10h)
Taught by the OCTCM Dean (R.TCM). Learn postpartum recovery through TCM principles—restoring Qi and Blood, promoting circulation, and regulating organ function. Covers maternal rehabilitation and infant health management through herbal therapy, acupressure, moxibustion, and daily care guidance.
2️ Lactation & Breastfeeding Support (5h)
Led by an IBCLC consultant. Covers breast anatomy, milk production, positioning, latch techniques, and hands-on strategies for common issues such as engorgement or low supply.
3️ Maternal & Infant Nursing (25h)
Delivered by a Registered Nurse (RN). Includes postpartum vital sign monitoring, wound and lochia care, emotional health, sleep support, newborn bathing, feeding, jaundice management, umbilical care, and preterm infant care.
4️ Nutrition & Postpartum Meal Planning (5h)
Taught by a Registered Dietitian (RD). Focuses on nutritional requirements during recovery, meal planning for different body types, lactation-boosting foods, and hands-on meal preparation.
5️ Legal & Communication Skills (5h)
Led by legal advisors and senior postpartum mentors. Teaches employment law, privacy regulations, risk management, professional boundaries, and effective client communication within Canadian households.
6️ CPR & Infant First Aid (5h)
Led by certified emergency instructors. Practical training includes adult and infant CPR, choking response, burn and fall management, allergy and fever emergencies, and common household first-aid scenarios.
7️ Practical Training & Supervised Internship (70h)
Includes simulation exercises, case discussions, and real-world placement at Lucky Mom Postpartum Center, guided by professional mentors and evaluated through final assessment.
